      • Mine are planted in a patch of sand and gravel from the old path/paving slabs, which I was too lazy to dig out, and I’m glad I didn’t as they seem to like it, and I already have one flower coming despite what I suspected was slightly too much shade for parts of the day. Glad yours are doing well too. Bearded irises always look rather impressive to my naive eyes, like special plants for advanced-level gardeners!

        • Good for you. I was always hopeless at art, but maybe macro photography is similar in that you notice things you wouldn’t usually see. My photography certainly complements my gardening as I am now thinking about putting plants together more in order to get a good photo.

  1. Ah, when I see your Iris I ask myself, why dont I grow them. Well its always been a question over the short flowering period, however with careful planting the foliage could be a good backdrop for other perennials.
