About Me and My Blog

Welcome to this blog about my garden in Aberdeen, Scotland.

I have lived in my garden, well not literally you understand, since 1987 with my husband, aka The Traveller, and my three children.

I have always loved gardening but in the early days there were always things getting in the way:  Mums and toddlers,  gymnastics classes, school shows, taxi runs, you get the picture.

Now my children are all grown up and I have recently retired so I have lots of lovely time to tend to my garden and to write my blog.

I hope in my blog to show you what grows well in an Aberdeen garden, but also to show you what problems I have.; I do hope there are more of the former than the latter!

I am also interested in photography so hopefully you will see my photos improve as my blog matures, rather than deteriorate as I mature!

If you have just found this blog why not check out some  posts about my garden throughout the year?

My Garden posts for 2014

If you enjoy my blog, or have any comments or questions, I would love to hear from you, either at my contact email or by commenting on a particular post.

Please note, though, that this is an award free blog – much as I would be honoured to be chosen, I would rather not accept. Thanks

  1. I like how your blog looks on my mobile in the WordPress app. What theme is it? Thanks for following my blog. I’m reciprocating. I love gardens and flowers but don’t manage to give my own tiny patch much time and effort.

    • Thanks – it is a twenty fourteen theme. It has some great features such as a magazine style home page and putting a featured image at the top of blog pages. Your site looks to be full of great information about social media sites; an area I need to look into.

  2. Hi 🙂 I like this! As part of 201 I decided to split the gardening section of my main blog out into another one – called A Wiltshire Garden – with the same premise as you have with this one! I’m looking forward to spotting the differences between gardening down here and gardening up there!

    • Hi Dominic,
Thanks for following. I will pop over and have a look at your Wiltshire Garden shortly. You will find that we are usually a good two weeks behind you up here, but we have lovely long light evenings in the summer. (When it isn’t raining that is.)

  3. Hi there, I’ve just nominated you for the Liebster new blogger award. You can find my post here: http://wp.me/p4b773-nO. If you wish to participate you can link to my post, answer and create 11 questions and nominate 11 other new bloggers. 🙂

I apologise for posting this here but i didn’t know how else to contact you …

    • Hi, I am really honoured that you chose me for this award, however after careful thought I have decided to decline. Thanks for the nomination, though – I hope you find a replacement without too much trouble.
And sorry I have no contact page – it is on my list along with an archive page and all those other good suggestions from the 201 course that I haven’t got to yet.

  4. Congratulations! I have just nominated you for the Liebster Blog award!

    • Hi, thanks so much for the nomination. I am honoured to be chosen but I’m sorry I can’t accept. I barely have time to keep up with my own posts I’m afraid and do keep meaning to put a blog free logo on my home page. Sorry to let you down. Happy blogging!

  5. I found your blog through Blogging 201 – it is so beautiful! I am now a new follower, and do feel warmly invited to visit mine. Maybe you’ll find it interesting enough to follow it back. 🙂

    • Hi Angie. Thanks for following my blog. I always visit the blogs of my followers, but I now follow far too many blogs already that there is a danger of this taking over my life! Your blog looks great and you are already getting plenty of interaction with people. Keep up the good work.

  6. iam absolut thrilled about your blog. Really Beauiful, lovely flowers. Hard to keep up with it, is it? I admire people who have a beautiful Garden like yourself do, but i know how hard the work is and how much time and money is invested. Are you attending Garden Shows or similiar things?
    Cheers Marci xo

  7. Hi Annette, I found your blog through Blogging 201 as well. I am in a different part of the world from you, but love to garden as well. It is fun for me to see what type of things grow in different areas. Although we live in the desert, I have come to love the different types of vegetation here. I look forward to seeing your posts!

    • Hi Shari,
I have just popped over to see your blog – it is a good layout and the category archives are very useful and look good. I love the idea of your lasagne soup and hope to try it. Thanks for following mine, I hope you enjoy my posts.

  8. Hello Annette-
