Japan
Japan is a country full of symbolism.
Perhaps the most well known symbol of Japan is Mount Fuji, but there are many others.
Red is a very symbolic colour in Japan, from the red setting sun on the national flag to the colour of the gates of shinto shrines.
Statues of deities are often dressed in red hats and bibs as red is supposed to ward off demons and illness.
Japanese writing is made up of beautiful symbols.
We are lucky enough to visit Japan fairly regularly as my eldest son married a lovely Japanese girl and we now have two beautiful granddaughters. We are gradually learning more about Japanese culture and the symbolism it contains.
I am always interested to read your blogs about Japan, there is always something to learn about their culture. Lovely photos Annette
Thanks. I really need to write more as I have many lovely photos. One day I will have time. Have you come across Japan/Can Mix blog – Hilary writes some really interesting posts on Japan.
